
Yashoda Devi Timsina

Mrs. Yashoda Devi Timsina is a seasoned journalist and former National Information Commissioner of Nepal (2015–2020), bringing over 20 years of experience in journalism, governance, and Right to Information (RTI) advocacy. She has held prominent editorial positions, including Former Advisor Editor at DCNepal.com and Editor-in-Chief at CorporateNepal.com.
She has served as Senior Sub-editor at Nepal Magazine and held leadership roles such as Vice President and Central Committee Member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ). As an RTI and journalism trainer, she has conducted numerous workshops on feature writing and basic journalism across Nepal.
Her academic background includes a Master’s degree in Sociology/Anthropology and Mass Communication. She also holds diplomas from prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), the International Institute for Journalism in Brandenburg (IIJB), Germany, and has studied Media and Democracy in Denmark.
Mrs. Timsina has represented Nepal in global RTI and media forums in over 30 countries, including the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and Hong Kong. She has significantly contributed to RTI policy reform, Open Government Data initiatives, and public awareness campaigns in all 77 districts of Nepal.
She has been honored with numerous national journalism and peace awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to media and civil rights.
Currently, she is living in Washington, USA, pursuing her higher education.
